Learn chess with the JBW Chess Club
This is a chess website made for our club. Every board on it is one you can play with: click a piece and move it to another square. Press "See all lessons" to start.
A note for grown-ups
Chess is a board game, and board games are better with two people. With that in mind, this site is put together for a child and a grown-up to learn together.
Your child almost certainly gets enough screen time already, so think of this site as the instruction booklet that comes in the chess box. Read a lesson together, try a puzzle or two, then set the real pieces up on the kitchen table.
How to use this site
- Click on the boards. Click a piece to see its legal moves, then click a square to play one.
- Move by move. Press Next to play through an opening or a checkmate one move at a time, and press Back if you want to see a move again.
- Puzzles. Play the move you think is best. If it is wrong, the board shakes and you try again.
